Lee County Burn Ban in Effect
Attention Residents: Due to severe drought conditions and a high risk of wildfires, Lee County has officially issued a mandatory burn ban to protect lives and property. Please review the important details and restrictions below to help keep our community safe.
📍 Where does the ban apply?
The burn ban applies to the entirety of Lee County, which includes all municipalities and unincorporated areas.
📅 When is it effective?
The ban is currently in effect (as of April 7, 2026) and will remain in place until further notice. The ban will only be lifted once rescinded by the County Commissioners. You can check for ongoing updates at LEEGOV.COM.
🌡️ Why is this happening?
We are currently experiencing a Severe Drought with a High Wildfire Risk (Current KBDI > 600). This measure is strictly for protecting lives and property in our area.
❌ PROHIBITED (What You Cannot Do)
Please completely avoid the following activities:
- Outdoor burning of trash, yard waste, or construction debris
- Campfires and bonfires
- Non-permitted fireworks
✅ ALLOWED WITH CAUTION (What You Can Do)
The following activities are still permitted, provided you exercise extreme caution:
- Outdoor cooking on gas or charcoal grills
- Authorized professional fireworks displays
- Prescribed burns conducted by the Florida Forest Service
